The 3-Day Skill Enhancement Training for Able Seafarer Deck is designed to strengthen the practical skills and onboard awareness of deck seamen. This intensive program covers a wide range of essential duties and responsibilities expected from an Able Seafarer. Key topics include safe working practices, hazard and risk assessment, and the Permit to Work system. Trainees gain hands-on knowledge in life-saving and firefighting systems, bridge watchkeeping, steering, and lookout duties. The course also covers seamanship basics like mooring, surface preparation for painting, cargo handling, and crane operations. In addition, participants are introduced to ISPS security requirements, and gain exposure to basic carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical safety, and the use of power and pneumatic tools. Social responsibility and team coordination onboard are also emphasized. The course blends theory with practical demonstrations, equipping seafarers with the confidence and competence required for safe and efficient shipboard operations.
