Course overview
As cellular telephone networks continue to expand, so do the employment opportunities for communication tower technicians. Cell tower technicians climb the face of telecommunications / cellular towers to install, test, maintain, repair and remove a variety of radio frequency and antenna equipment.
The industry needs people who have an interest in working at heights, have the ability to travel extensively and are dedicated to a safe work environment.

- 12. Hazards associated with hoisting personnel and equipment with base-mounted drum hoists
- 13. Inclement weather
- 14. Falling object hazards
- 15. Anchorages, Connectors, Snap Hooks and D-Rings
- 16. Understand the use of Lanyards, Life Lines ,Roper Grabs, and Ladder Climbing Systems Knots & Hitches, Rigging
- 17. Learning Rescue for the cell tower industry
- 18. Develop Rescue and Pre- Climb checklists
- 19. Learn about Monopole, Guyed, and Lattice Cell Towers
- 20. Maintain 100% – 2 points of contact, learn ascent, descent and industry climbing practices

Requirements
- Basic Experience or Knowledge: Some prior experience in construction, telecommunications, or a related field is often beneficial but not always required.
- Physical Fitness: You must be physically fit, as the course often involves working at heights, climbing towers, and performing tasks requiring strength and stamina.
- Age Requirement: Some courses may require candidates to be at least 18 years old, due to safety regulations and work requirements.
- Employer Support: If employed, your employer may need to provide or sponsor your training, especially if the course is required for your job.
- Willingness to Work at Heights: Since the course involves safety protocols for working on communication towers, candidates must be comfortable with heights and confined spaces.
- Safety Training: A general understanding of basic safety procedures or certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30, First Aid) may be necessary before enrolling.
