The FRC Boatman Program's goal is to provide the delegate with the fundamental information, comprehension, and abilities needed to carry out the duties of an ERRV Crew Fast Rescue Craft Boatman. The course covers the different types of FRC and DC currently utilized, the risks involved in launching and recovering an RC, what to do in case of an RC capsizing, how to release the securing arrangements for the RC, setting up a towline, and retrieving the RC to the ERRV.
The Fast Rescue Craft/Boat course follows the guidelines set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and is essential for training personnel to operate FRC/FRB. This training is mandatory for deployment in offshore fields according to the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) and on RO-RO passenger vessels as per the IMO.
Rig Contingency Plans outline the necessary actions to be taken in the event of a calamity on board a vessel, tailored to the specific type of vessel and equipment used. This includes the emergency procedures/plans for the rescue and treatment of casualties, involving the use of FRBs.
The emergency procedure details the initial actions to be taken by the Master, FRB coxswain, and crew before, during, and after the launch of an FRB. Additionally, it addresses the rescue, treatment, and transfer of casualties to safety after recovery. It's crucial for the crew to receive adequate training, and the procedure/plan will be updated in response to changes in legislation or best practices.
