First Aid, CPR, O2 & AED

Participants in the First Aid, CPR, O2 and AED course learn how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely, quickly, and effectively in addition to providing first aid and CPR. Oxygen therapy is a treatment that provides you with supplemental, or extra, oxygen. During the course you will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident, casualties, by-standers and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Course overview

The First Aid/CPR/O2/AED program's courses are designed to assist participants in identifying and responding effectively to cardiac, breathing, and first aid crises. They also teach participants how to provide urgent treatment to a person who has become suddenly wounded or unwell until more qualified medical staff can arrive and take over.

During the course you will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide an advanced first aid response, including management of the incident, casualties, by-standers and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. Participants will learn how to properly and safely handle and assemble the equipment and how to correctly deliver supplemental oxygen through the appropriate delivery device. 



What will I learn?

  • 1. C.P.R. chest compression & mouth to mouth breathing for adult, child and infant.
  • 2. A.E.D. “Heart Start” Machine for restarting the heart after cardiac arrest.
  • 3. Administer 100% oxygen; Oxygen Administration
  • 4. Use of different type of mask - bag-valve mask; oropharyngeal airway adjunct
  • 5. Use of oxygen system for resuscitation – oxygen cylinder
  • 6. Selection of oxygen masks – nasal cannula, demand valve, non-rebreather and pocket mas with oxygen inlet
  • 7. Suffocation Choking : Back Blows, Abdominal Thrusts (Heimlich’s Manouvre), Chest Compressions, Drowning : Rescue and First Aid Smoke and Fire : Rescue and First Aid
  • 8. Head Injury and Stroke: Conscious Patient, Unconscious Patient, Recovery Position.
  • 9. Shocks: Electric Shock, Hysterical (Emotional) Shock, Cardio-Respiratory Failure
  • 10. Wounds: Types Of Wounds, Cleaning And Dressing, Bandages And Slings
  • 11. Control Bleeding: Direct Pressure, Indirect Pressure Points, Amputations
  • 12. Fractures: Identification And Fixing Of All Fractured Bones
  • 13. Muscle And Joint Injuries: Muscle Strain And Rupture, Muscle Cramps, Joint Sprains And Dislocations
  • 14. Burns: Degree, Location, Area, Minor And Major Burns And Their First Aid, Chemical And Acid Burns
  • 15. Heart Attack: Signs, Symptoms, And First Aid
  • 16. Allergic Reactions And Shock: (Anaphylaxis) Causes, Identification And First Aid
  • 17. Poisons: Types And First Aid, Dog Bite (Rabies) Snake Bite, Scorpion, Bee Stings
  • 18. Heat Stroke And Hypothermia (Frost Bite): Signs And Emergency First Aid
  • 19. Diabetes And Hypoglycaemia (Low Sugar): Signs And Emergency First Aid Alcoholism
  • 20. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of shock and providing first aid for shock due to illness or injury;
  • 21. Assessing and treating a victim who has an unexplained change in level of consciousness or sudden illness;
  • 22. Ingested poisons: alkali, acid, and systemic poisons.
  • 23. Inhaled poisons: carbon monoxide; hydrogen sulfide; smoke; and other chemical fumes, vapors, and gases.
  • 24. Knowledge of the chemicals at the worksite and of first aid and treatment for inhalation or ingestion;
  • 25. Recognizing asphyxiation and the danger of entering a confined space without appropriate respiratory protection.
  • 26. Responding to Medical Emergencies: Chest pain; Stroke; Breathing problems; Anaphylactic reaction; Hypoglycemia in diabetics taking insulin; Seizures; Pregnancy complications; Abdominal injury;
  • 27. Wounds: Assessment and first aid for wounds including abrasions, cuts, lacerations, punctures, avulsions;
  • 28. Burns: Assessing the severity of a burn;
  • 29. Musculoskeletal Injuries: Fractures; Sprains, strains, contusions and cramps; Head, neck, back and spinal injuries.
Requirements
  • To enroll in this course individuals must be employed in the Offshore Oil & Gas, Industrial or Offshore & Onshore Wind Energy Sectors.
