  • 13. Assist the Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO) with communication checks and equipment checks on the helideck.

  • 15. Adhere to appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements during helicopter operations.
  • 16. Under the direction of the HLO
  • a. Load and unload passenger baggage correctly.
  • b. Handle helicopter freight appropriately, adhering to manual handling techniques and freight loading restrictions.
  • 17. Follow helideck protocols and procedures during helicopter operations.
  • 18. Adhere to regulations concerning helicopter danger areas.
  • 19. Aid passengers in safe boarding and disembarking from the helicopter on the helideck.
  • 20. Identify hazardous materials during helicopter loading and unloading procedures.
  • 21. Demonstrate awareness of refueling methods and safety precautions.
Requirements
  • To enroll in the Helideck Assistant course, delegates must have completed a Dangerous Goods by Air training course as per the following standards:
  • Part 1, Chapter 4 of the ICAO Technical Instructions,
  • Subsection 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (Category 7, 8, or 9).
  • Alternatively, a state aviation-approved Dangerous Goods Awareness training course.
