Elite Offshore conducts specialized Marine Evacuation System (MES) training designed to meet the requirements of STCW 2010 Regulations A-VI/1-1 and A-VI/2-1, as well as SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 19.3.3. This training provides seafarers and offshore personnel with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe deployment, use, and management of MES during emergency evacuations. The course covers system components, safety precautions, step-by-step MES launching procedures, and the correct method of boarding survival craft through the evacuation slides or chutes. Participants also learn about crowd control, communication during emergencies, and coordination with rescue vessels as per international safety standards. The training includes hands-on familiarization using approved equipment, ensuring learners gain confidence in real-life scenarios. Elite Offshore’s MES program enhances onboard preparedness, promotes effective teamwork, and ensures compliance with global maritime safety regulations.
Marine Evacuation System (MES) Training
Elite Offshore conducts a comprehensive Marine Evacuation System (MES) Training Programme designed to meet the requirements of STCW 2010 Regulations A-VI/1-1, A-VI/2-1, and SOLAS Chapter III Regulation 19.3.3. The course prepares participants to safely and confidently operate and use an MES during an emergency evacuation at sea.
The training combines essential theory with realistic practical exercises to ensure seafarers understand how the system works, when it should be deployed, and how to evacuate passengers quickly and safely. Participants learn the different components of an MES, safety procedures for deployment, and the roles and responsibilities of crew during an evacuation.
A major focus of the course is hands-on familiarization with the escape chute system commonly used onboard modern vessels. Trainees will learn how and when an escape chute is deployed, and the importance of wearing correct PPE before entering the chute. Practical sessions help participants build confidence as they enter the chute using the correct body posture, perform a controlled descent, and exit safely onto a collection raft or platform.
The training also includes demonstrating how to clear the landing area quickly after exiting the chute to avoid obstructing others during a real evacuation. Hazard awareness, communication during emergencies, and crowd-management considerations are also covered.
By the end of the course, participants will be fully familiar with MES operation and will be capable of performing an organised, safe evacuation in compliance with international maritime standards.
