Course overview

The Offshore Lifeboat Coxswain Refresher training program is essential for personnel designated to undertake Coxswain's duties on an installation survival craft (TEMPSC).

After completing the course delegates should be able to prepare rescue craft Upon completion, delegates should be proficient in preparing equipment for use, organizing boarding, safely operating lower and release equipment, maneuvering, leading the recovery operation on the water, and continuing with further offshore installation-specific training.

What will I learn?

1. Coxswains Roles and Responsibilities
2. Refresh knowledge of lifeboat launching, operation, and retrieval in compliance with industry standards.
3. Refresh understanding of safety measures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lifejackets, and survival suits. E.g. Moving the TEMPSC (Totally Enclosed Motor Propelled Survival Craft) to a safe area, moving the craft to a safe location, stay in lifeboat etc.
4. Strengthen communication skills for coordinating with team members and other emergency response personnel.
5. Review pre-operational checks, routine maintenance (e.g. maintain operational readiness of the craft), and troubleshooting of lifeboats and associated equipment.
6. Refine skills in navigating and steering lifeboats in various sea conditions, including rough waters and adverse weather.
7. Refresh knowledge of risk assessment and safe decision-making during offshore lifeboat operations.
