Overview of course
The course of a Winch Operator would cover in great detail the hazardous aspects of man-riding and anchor handling winch operations, with strong emphasis on safety procedures and equipment. Overloading, slipping brake, and wire parting are only some of the substantial risks that this course will cover; by the end, participants will know how to identify those hazards and mitigate them accordingly.
The course provides the participants with both knowledge and manual skills relevant to towing and anchor handling winch operations on vessels. Further, the course prepares operators for any form of danger that might result during work, emphasizing safety protocols and emergency management. Such staff that apply to work on the drilling rigs need to be adequately trained in order to overcome the obstacles and risks of the operation offshore safely and efficiently. The nature of this training involves many facets of the rig operations such as drilling operations, use of equipment, and safety measures.

- 14. Apply operational safety knowledge in all winch activities.
- Minimum Age: 18 years.
- Basic Literacy: Able to understand instructions.
- Prior Experience: Preferably some winch or industrial experience.
- Basic Safety Training: Courses like Working at Heights may be required.
- Medical Fitness: Recent health certificate for physical suitability
- PPE: Bring essential safety gear (helmet, harness, gloves, boots).
