Basic Training for Liquefied Gas Tanker Cargo Operations is a mandatory STCW course designed for seafarers assigned to duties on liquefied gas tankers. As per IMO guidelines (STCW Regulation V/1-2 and Section A-V/1-2-1), this training provides essential knowledge and skills for the safe handling, transfer, and carriage of liquefied gas cargoes. The course covers the properties and hazards of liquefied gases, tanker construction, cargo containment systems, safety precautions, firefighting systems, pollution prevention, emergency procedures, and relevant international regulations. It combines classroom theory with practical training, enabling participants to understand cargo operations and respond to emergencies effectively. Upon successful completion, participants will be able to demonstrate competence in basic gas tanker safety procedures and fulfill the minimum training requirements for serving on board gas tankers.
